Privacy Policy

This policy describes which data the ArrowNotes app processes and for what purpose. It applies to the iPhone and Apple Watch apps as well as to this website.
ArrowNotes is built as a local training log: what you enter stays on your device – and, if you turn on sync, additionally in your private iCloud account. There is no user account with the provider, no public profile, no advertising and no tracking.

Processed data and purposes
App data you enter
This covers rounds, ends, scores, arrow counts, equipment, sight settings, templates and notes. The data is used solely to provide the app's functionality. It is neither analysed nor passed on to third parties.
Profile data
In your profile you may voluntarily store a first name, last name, club and a profile picture. These details only affect what the app displays – for example your first name instead of “Me” in a match. They are not required to use the app, can be changed or deleted at any time and are never transmitted. With sync enabled they reside, like your other data, in your private iCloud account.
Camera and photo library
The app uses the camera for target photos and, for the profile picture, either the camera or your photo library. This only happens when you invoke the respective function, and only after you grant permission in the system dialog; you can revoke that permission in the iOS settings at any time. Images you take or select are stored in the app's own data. They are neither written back to your library nor transmitted to the provider – the only exception is the voluntary data donation described below.
iCloud sync
If you enable sync, the app stores and synchronises your data via Apple's iCloud services. It resides in your private iCloud area; Apple processes it as an independent provider under its own privacy terms. Without sync, no record leaves your device.
Target photos and voluntary data donation
Photos you take for an end are stored like your other training data: locally or – with sync enabled – in your private iCloud account.
In addition, you can enable a voluntary data donation in Settings under “Arrow detection”; it is off by default. It serves to build a training dataset for developing and improving automatic arrow detection. With the donation enabled, after saving an end with a calibrated photo the app uploads the following to the public database of the app's own iCloud container (Apple CloudKit):
- a perspective-corrected crop showing only the target face – not the original photo, without surroundings, location or any other metadata,
- the hit positions you marked, as coordinates,
- the type of target face and the app version,
- a randomly generated identifier that is not linked to any person and contains neither your Apple ID nor your name.
Content of this public database can be viewed by other users of the app. You can switch the donation off at any time; “Delete my donations” removes everything you have contributed.
Export and import
Exporting creates a file with your data that you can pass on via the system share sheet. Where that file goes is your decision. Importing reads such a file and replaces the existing data. Target photos are not part of that file.
Diagnostics and crash data
Depending on your system settings, Apple collects anonymised crash and usage data (iOS diagnostics) to improve stability and performance. It is provided in aggregated form; the app itself collects no analytics or usage data of its own.
This website
These pages are static. They set no cookies, embed no third-party fonts or scripts and do not analyse your behaviour. When a page is requested, the hosting provider processes technically necessary access data (such as IP address, time and requested file) for delivery and security.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR applies:
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) for the core functions of the app, that is processing your training, equipment and profile data on the device as well as sync if you enable it.
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests) for secure and stable operation, including delivery of this website.
- Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent) exclusively for the voluntary data donation. You can withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future by switching the donation off in Settings.
Storage period
Your data remains stored for as long as you use the app and is deleted when you remove it in the app or delete the app together with its iCloud data. Donated training data remains stored until you remove it via “Delete my donations” or the provider deletes it.
Your rights
Where the GDPR or comparable law applies, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and the right to object to processing. Consent you have given can be withdrawn at any time.
Because the app works without a user account and your data lives on your device or in your own iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights directly – by deleting individual entries, exporting your data or removing the app. For anything else, contact the controller named above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority here is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
Children's privacy
ArrowNotes is not aimed at children below the age required in your country for using apps independently. No data is knowingly collected from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy is updated when the app's features change. The current version is always on this page; the date above shows its state.

These terms govern the use of the ArrowNotes app. By installing and using it you accept them.
Subject
ArrowNotes is a personal training and equipment log for archery. It is intended for private use and replaces neither training nor professional advice.
Price
The app is provided free of charge. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription and no advertising; every feature is available without payment. Should that ever change, it will be described here beforehand.
iCloud sync
Sync is optional and depends on Apple's services. There is no claim to continuous availability or to the recovery of lost data. Use the data export in addition to guard against loss.
Use
You use ArrowNotes in accordance with applicable law. You are responsible for making sure its use in training or competition is compatible with the rules of your club, association or organiser. Interfering with the technical operation of the app is not permitted.
Your data
You are responsible for the accuracy of your entries and for backing up important data.
Intellectual property
All rights to the app – design, source code and branding – remain with the provider unless stated otherwise. You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the app privately on your devices.
Liability
The app is provided “as is”, without any assurance of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Liability for indirect and consequential damages is excluded as far as the law permits. Liability for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health, remains unaffected.
Changes
These terms may be adjusted, for instance when new features are added. The current version is always on this page.
Governing law
German law applies, unless mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence say otherwise.
